Since 2016, the Wichita Wildfire has been blazing trails in the world of adaptive sports, bringing together a diverse group of athletes to compete in wheelchair basketball.  Our Mission

At the heart of Wichita Wildfire is a simple yet powerful goal: to provide athletes with lower extremity physical disabilities the chance to be part of a competitive team.  Who Can Join?

Wichita Wildfire welcomes athletes who meet the following criteria:

- Have a confirmed doctor's diagnosis of a permanent lower extremity disability

- Possess a passion for basketball and a competitive spirit

It's important to note that not all of our athletes are full-time wheelchair users. The beauty of wheelchair basketball is that it levels the playing field, allowing individuals with various levels of mobility to compete together.

 Try Before You Commit

Curious about wheelchair basketball but don't have the equipment? No problem! We have a limited number of basketball wheelchairs available for those who want to give the sport a try. This opportunity allows potential players to experience the game firsthand before making a commitment.

 Season Details

- Season Duration: October through March

- Practice Location: South YMCA FARHA in Wichita
