Wichita Adaptive Sports Car Show Raises Nearly $10,000 in Record-Breaking Fundraiser
Wichita Adaptive Sports celebrated another incredible year of community support at its eighth annual car show on Saturday, September 12, at the Walmart Supercenter parking lot at 5475 N. Meridian Ave. With more than 70 classic cars on display, this year’s event was our most successful car show fundraiser to date!
Thanks to the generosity of our car enthusiasts, sponsors, donors, volunteers, and everyone who came out to support us, we raised nearly $10,000 this year, bringing our eight-year fundraising total to more than $55,000!
A Community Coming Together
For the past several years, Mike and Myrna Hamilton, along with Sharon Campbell and Lori Link, have worked hard to organize and coordinate this annual event. Their dedication and commitment have helped make the car show a successful tradition for Wichita Adaptive Sports.
Our athletes also played an important role in making the day a success. Volunteers worked the concession stand, sold T-shirts and water, and helped with the 50/50 raffle. Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in our silent auction and purchase raffle tickets for a variety of donated items.
Adaptive cycles were also on display for people to try, thanks to our cycling program lead, James Watson, and his wife, Tammy.
A special shout-out goes to our DJ, Bill McCutcheon, who kept the music going and helped create a fun, energetic atmosphere throughout the event. We are grateful for his continued support and for being an important part of our success over the years.
We would also like to extend a special thank-you to Walmart at 5475 N. Meridian Ave. for providing the location for our event and helping make this annual fundraiser possible. We appreciate your support of Wichita Adaptive Sports and our athletes!
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated their time, talents, and resources to make this event possible. From the classic car owners who brought their beautiful vehicles to the community members who came out to support us, this event is a wonderful reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together.
Congratulations to Our Best in Show Winner!
A special congratulations to Larry Ashley, who took home this year’s Best in Show award! Larry’s beautiful classic car was a standout at this year’s event. Congratulations, Larry!
Making a Difference Through Adaptive Sports
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Wichita Adaptive Sports relies on community support and fundraising to help sustain our programs and serve athletes with physical disabilities.
Proceeds from the car show help cover essential operating expenses, including insurance, storage space, and advertising. These funds also help provide scholarships to athletes who need specialized equipment to participate in adaptive sports.
For many athletes, access to the right equipment can make all the difference in being able to participate, compete, and experience the joy of being part of a team. The generosity shown through this event helps us continue creating opportunities for individuals with physical disabilities to stay active, build friendships, and reach their full potential.
Raising more than $55,000 over the past eight years is an incredible accomplishment, and it would not be possible without the continued support of our community.
A Special Shout-Out to Our Sponsors!
