At Wichita Adaptive Sports, we believe in the transformative power of sports for individuals with physical disabilities. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, we are dedicated to promoting adaptive sports and recreation in south-central Kansas, creating opportunities for individuals to thrive, grow, and connect through physical activity.
Our Goals
1. Inclusive Sports Engagement: Our aim is to offer, promote, and encourage participation in sports, physical fitness, and recreational activities that are specifically designed for individuals with physical disabilities.
2. Supportive Learning Environment: We create a supportive and educational setting through our programs, enabling individuals to enhance their current activity levels and explore new opportunities.
3. Raising Awareness: Our dedication lies in boosting awareness and interest in adaptive sports, highlighting the remarkable abilities of our athletes and the diverse sports available.
4. Holistic Well-being: Our focus extends beyond physical health to promote the social health and overall well-being of individuals with physical disabilities, nurturing a sense of community and belonging.
Impact on Our Community
Each year, Wichita Adaptive Sports serves over 100 youth, wounded warriors, and adults throughout south-central Kansas. Our diverse range of programs includes wheelchair basketball, tennis, track, adaptive cycling, and swimming, among others. These activities not only promote physical health but also contribute to mental well-being by providing a supportive network of individuals facing similar challenges.
By participating in our programs, individuals often experience a profound shift in identity. They begin to associate themselves with their chosen sport rather than their disability, opening up new horizons of possibility and achievement.
Join us in our mission to empower lives through adaptive sports. Whether you're an athlete, volunteer, or supporter, there's a place for you in the Wichita Adaptive Sports family. Together, we can create a more inclusive and active community for all.
