After more than three decades of faithful service, leadership, and laughter, we bid a fond farewell to our dear friend and longtime board member, Grady, as he retires from the Wichita Adaptive Sports Board. While it’s challenging to summarize a legacy as rich as his in just a few paragraphs, we want to acknowledge the impact he has had on our organization and every person he encountered along the way.
Grady has been part of Wichita Adaptive Sports for over 30 years. His journey with us includes wearing many hats—tennis coach, program coordinator, board member, and president—but what stands out the most is the heart and spirit with which he filled each of these roles. Whether he was on the court cheering on athletes, guiding strategic conversations in board meetings, or quietly offering encouragement to a new member, Grady has always embodied the true mission of adaptive sports: inclusion, empowerment, and joy.
Those who know him best will tell you, Grady’s presence was often the light in the room. His goody humor and positivity had a way of lifting everyone around him. Even on the most challenging days, Grady could be counted on to bring a smile to your face.
As Grady steps away from his formal role on the board, we want to extend our deepest gratitude for the countless hours he has poured into this community. His dedication has helped shape Wichita Adaptive Sports into the vibrant, welcoming, and resilient organization it is today. We wouldn’t be where we are without him.
To Grady and his beloved wife Janet, thank you for sharing so much of your time, love, and energy with us. We wish you both all the best in this next season of life. Your presence will be missed, but your legacy will forever be a part of who we are.
Here’s to you, Grady—our coach, our leader, our friend. May your days ahead be filled with the same joy and laughter you gave so freely to us.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Your Wichita Adaptive Sports Family
