Our 2024-2025 wheelchair basketball season has come to an end. We celebrated the end of the season during the WAS annual meeting on 3/1/2025. Click here for pictures from the season.
In it's inaugural debut, the Wichita Wildfire adult team worked hard to build team unity and skills. We participated in the Wichita Wildfire Tournament, the Oklahoma City Thunder tournament, and two Saturday scrimmages against the Kansas City Kings. We had a consistent team of 9 members that practiced weekly to hone our skills.
The Wichita Wildfire youth team worked together under the leadership of our two seniors, Jade and Sophia. The team worked hard with young, new talent. We participated in tournaments in Wichita, OKC, Dallas, and Omaha. We had a consistent team of 7 varsity and 5 prep athletes come to weekly practices.
Each player was recognized with a special award during the annual meeting:

Micah - MVP
Jayson - Rookie of the Year

Our future plans are to have athletes attend summer camps and individual workouts. We will restart as a group in September 2025. We look forward to seeing how these teams continue to develop in the coming years.
Future Goals: Planning fundraising efforts for two adult basketball chairs for the 2025-2026 season. If you are interested in sponsoring one or both of these chairs, please reach out to coach Jenny at 316-680-4821.
We are grateful for the athletes, parents and sponsors for making this a fun season! A special shout out goes to Joe Heppler for his photos he has taken during the season.
